Complete your smile with a partial denture
If you have one or many missing teeth, a partial denture could be just the solution you’re looking for! Removable partial dentures are a natural-looking, seamless way to restore your confidence in your smile. Not only will partial dentures improve the look of your smile, but their benefits go far beyond aesthetics, as your denturist will tell you. If you’re missing teeth, your bite pressure shifts, and this can cause an imbalance in your mouth as other teeth start to shift. But with a partial denture, form and function in your jaw can be restored. They’re an easy and relatively inexpensive way to help you look and feel your best.
Are you wondering if partial dentures will work for you? Or maybe you have questions about what they’ll cost or how long they last. At Toronto Denture Centre, we can answer all of your questions during a free consultation to help you determine if partial dentures are right for you.
The cost of your partial denture will depend on the type of denture that’s right for you. To get a detailed cost estimate, contact us to book a free, no-obligation consultation.
Partial dentures are made of artificial teeth attached to a base that can be placed in your mouth to fill in any gaps. Partial or removable dentures are a good option for patients who are missing one or more teeth and a bridge isn’t a suitable option. Sometimes a bridge won’t work if the necessary teeth aren’t there to support it, and the cost can also be a deterrent.
Rather than full, permanent dentures, a partial denture is used when there are still some natural teeth remaining in the mouth–they work by filling in any gaps from missing teeth. Made with replacement teeth attached to a pink plastic base connected to a metal framework to hold the denture in place, a partial denture can fit in seamlessly and look completely natural.
The fit and function of your new partial denture might feel a bit awkward at first, but this gets better over time.
To help you ease into wearing your partial denture, be sure to cut your food into very small bites. As you get more comfortable and confident with your denture, you can add new, more difficult foods to your diet. But remember, particularly hard, sticky, or chewy foods may always be more of a challenge. Most patients have few problems with their partial denture once they’ve adjusted to it, provided it’s crafted by an experienced denturist.
There are many factors that influence the longevity of your partial dentures. Things like the fit of your denture and the health of your remaining teeth are important considerations. The tissues in your mouth are bound to change over time, and denture teeth can wear down and stain quicker than regular teeth. Any of these factors can result in an improper or uncomfortable fit. Then, it’s time to replace your partial denture or have it relined.
